Mr. Eric Frandsen, principal of Surfside Educational Academy, has been recognized as the 2026 Continuation/Educational Options Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) for his leadership in alternative and continuation education and his commitment to student success across OUSD.

Students experienced the joy of the season through Surfside’s Holiday Pop-Up, a school program that allows students to shop for free and choose gifts for their families—spreading cheer and support during the holidays.

Surfside Academy’s new Twilight Program is offering working students and teen parents a flexible path to graduation, giving them the support and schedule they need to succeed. This innovative approach is helping students stay on track while balancing jobs, childcare, and family responsibilities.

There will be no school from November 24, 2025 through November 28, 2025 in observance of Thanksgiving Break.

8 Live College Prep Workshops – Wednesdays at 6 PM PST starting next week (recordings will also be provided)

8 Drop-In Application Support Hours – Sundays at 5 PM PST starting October 19

Admissions Essay Reviews – Students can submit college essays for feedback and receive an edited version within 72 hours

Surfside is excited to have construction underway for our new facility. The rough timeline of the construction process is as follows. Grading, trenching, and utility lines for the new parking lot and buildings will continue throughout the year. The parking lot should be ready to use in a few months while the buildings will start to go up in the spring of 2025. At this time, it appears that construction will be complete in the fall of 2026. For now, our temporary basketball courts should be in just within the next two weeks, just in time for basketball season so the team can practice.
