CREDIT RECOVERY
Hi there, I’m Mrs. Carterette. Are you hoping to graduate early? I am the Credit Recovery teacher, and this is the place to be. My class is to offer you extra classes over and above those you are scheduled in. You can take almost any class through Credit Recovery. I can also use this time to offer help in any other class that you may be taking. We meet in room 2 every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday immediately after school.
You can contact me through email @miki.carterette@oside.us .
This program is available to students currently attending Surfside High School. Speak with Mr. Gomez to see if this is an option for you. You can contact Mr. Gomez via email at mike.gomez@oside.us.
GENDER SEXUALITY ALLIANCE
Hello, I’m Ms. Sacos-Francis. I’m the advisor for the Gender & Sexualities Alliance (GSA). GSA is a club whose purpose is to create a platform where students can unite without fear of judgement and become empowered to live their lives to the fullest. They will have an opportunity to become advocates for issues that are important to them and have their voices heard. It is a place to celebrate "YOU" for "BEING YOU".
My goal is to have opportunities for students to act as leaders and drive the club's activities and direction. It can be a political action platform, or a place to meet and socialize, where everybody can relax, play games, talk, or a combination of both, whatever they feel creates the group as their own.
Contact me via email @julie.sacos-francis@oside.us or stop by room 5. We meet each Monday from 2:15-3:15pm.
YEARBOOK CLUB
Hello, I am Ms. Laura. I am one of the advisors for the yearbook this year. Yearbook is a great way to meet new friends and express yourself creatively, and each student's contribution to the yearbook can be seen come to fruition when the yearbook arrives in June! After being trained in how to use the Studio 1 online design program, students are [partnered up and given the opportunity to design a yearbook spread that they can work on in class or at home. In addition to designing pages, throughout the course of the year students also help out with various other yearbook related tasks including selling yearbooks, photography, working on promotions, and eventually, yearbook distribution.
Contact me via email: anna.mihalov@oside.us or stop by the health office. We meet each Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30pm in room L1
